Country time. A custom reclaimed wood headboard with metal straps fits the dimensions of this bed as well as the reclaimed-wood theme in this Newport Beach California house.
This headboard most certainly had to be custom. Look how its shape fits between the oval windows aligning perfectly and making a beautiful statement in this bedroom design. Reclaimed shutters placed behind a bed add to the romantic charm of this bedroom. Now I wouldn′t have thought of doing this! A beautifully worn mantel becomes a truly unique headboard. Here a collection of worn pieces of wood are assembled in a line creating a very artistic headboard inspiring an organic and natural looking bedroom design.
Match a sham or another pillow to the headboard. This will give the bedscape a continuous look vertically like these damask-pattern shams do. To tie a larger area to the bed extend the headboard behind nightstands. A bold trellis pattern grounds this bed with the appropriate scale.
Sometimes a bed placed in the center of a room takes up too much space or just doesn′t look right — but simply shoving the bed into a corner can be awkward too. Designer Carla Aston came up with a great solution while designing a teenager′s room for a show house: Customized dual headboards on an upholstered frame keep the bed tucked neatly and comfortably in the corner while creating a casual lounge-style space.
